“Katrina handled everything perfectly and professionally, listened to what we wanted and made it happen beyond our expectations.” --Meg, Bride 2009, Hamilton, MT

Meg and Mark were wed in September 2009.  They chose to have an assortment of cakes for their late summer wedding, attended by 110 guests.  Here is what they chose:

1 two-tiered Mayan Chocolate  cake for the ceremonial cake cutting
2 single layer Salted Caramel cakes
2 double layer Mimosa cakes
2 more single layer Mayan Chocolate cakes
24 Huckleberry Buttermilk cupcakes
24 Lavender Cream Cheese and Honey cupcakes

But beware, everyone will want to try them all!

Stella in dress #1
"Weddings are supposed to be colorful!"  --Stella Mendrey, age 5

When picking out fabric for her flower girl dress, my five year old niece reminded me of a very important quality to any wedding, personal flare.  While she ended up with two dresses, one cream with a champagne sash, the other bubble gum pink with rainbow rhinestones, her vision of the ultimate celebration has remained with me and become a cornerstone to my wedding cake philosophy.  Weddings are an opportunity to express your and your other half's unique personalities, displaying for your loved ones how these qualities compliment to make a better whole.  And what better expression of this then your wedding cake?

When working with any couple I have two intentions: 1) to bring out the personality of both people through cake styles and flavors and 2) to work within the couple's budget.
Pricing

Weddings and celebrations can be expensive and cake is often at the end of the to do list.  By then the expense of a wedding has set in and one more cost can seem overwhelming.  I have met several brides who can't believe how expensive a wedding cake can be.  I was one of them.  While there are limits to how low you can go, or how much you can spend, I do my best to work within your budget and still provide you with your dream cake(s).  But just so you have an idea of what you will spend on a cake from flour & thyme, here is a breakdown:

  • $3.00-$6.00/slice.  Prices vary depending on flavor and decoration selection.  The serving size represents the standard size slice for a given cake, for example a single layer 9" cake provides 10 standard size servings (this is what the price is based on), however, it can be cut into smaller slices, should you want your guest to be able to try different flavors.

  • Want to rent cake plates, table cloths or serving utensils? $5-$10/item with a $50 deposit

  • Need delivery?  $25 flat fee for set up and delivery in Hamilton or Portland city limits.  For delivery in more distant locations additional fee based on government mileage rate ($.50/mile), if your wedding is more than one hour away the fee will increase $10/hr prorated for time spent driving.

Again, this is simply an example of a typical wedding cake package, an official quote will be provided after your wedding cake consultation.

"That's why God made chocolate and vanilla!"--Nanny Jan and many other wise souls

Choosing a single cake flavor for your 3-tiered beauty is hard enough, but can become nearly impossible when you are faced with all the other decisions of planning a wedding.  And no one wants to see their guests nibble at a $5.00 slice of cake only to see it end up in the trash, no matter how elegant it looked as a center piece.  When you order a cake from Flour & Thyme, you have the opportunity to be as creative and/or simple as you like when it comes to flavors and presentation.  Is your favorite drink root beer float while your spouse-to-be loves mimosas?  How about one rootbeer cake with vanilla cream frosting and one champagne cake with tangerine frosting?  Don't know what to do about centerpieces?  Why not use several cakes decorated with fresh flowers to adorn your tables?  Get creative, I love the challenge!
